Transition Progress

I’m so sorry I’m not all transitioned yet! My husband is doing everything for me (I have no idea how to do it) and it’s not all switched over yet. I have so little space left on this blog that it won’t even let me post a photo, so I can’t share the Summer Bucket List until everything is switched.

I can’t wait to get back to blogging! I have so much to share! Please keep checking back!

Blog Transition

I’m in the process of switching up my blog to a different host. Everything else will stay the same and I plan to be back to blogging next Tuesday.

I’ll be sharing our 2014 Summer Bucket List, so be sure to come back to check it out and download one for yourself!

Sorry about all the confusion!

Weekend Favorites

We had a bitter cold weekend here in Omaha. I’m so over Winter! We haven’t really been doing much because of the cold. However, I do have a few favorites from the weekend.

More thrifting! Hudson actually wanted to go look for new books. We’ve found some great books at the Goodwill and this time we ended up with 8 new books and 6 of them look like they’ve never been read. But the best score was this awesome pot I found! I’ll definitely be planting something in it. The photos don’t do the color justice. It’s really pretty in real life.

Thrifting for the win!

Family lunch. This is my last fast food meal before I give it up for Lent. I love this shot. So real.photo (25)

Breaking Bad. We finished watching the show on Friday night. Oh my gosh was it good! I couldn’t stop thinking about it all weekend. Brilliant! Totally brilliant.episode-1-walt-jesse

The Oscars. I love watching and seeing all the dresses and I’m totally into movies. All movies. Last night Cate Blanchett wore my favorite dress. I absolutely love it. There were so many good dresses last night though, so it was hard to choose just one.

So there you have it. A few of my favorites from the freezing cold don’t even wanna leave the house weekend.

See you tomorrow!

Project Life 2014-Intro Page

I wanted to do something different this year for my intro/cover page in my Project Life album. I’ve seen some awesome intros and was inspired. Since I loved my coin pocket page from my December Daily so much, I decided to do something similar for my PL.

But because I was adding a coin pocket page in the very front, I needed something neutral, something that wouldn’t take the focus off it. I designed a quick 12×12 page that could be cut to fit the standard pocket page. I’m seriously so stoked about how it turned out!

I wanted a combination of see-through elements, embellishments, patterned paper and photos.

I used 3×4 cards from the Seafoam and Midnight editions which I cut down to 2×2 squares. I’m obsessed with that black and white cross paper. And in case you’re wondering, yes, it does look exactly like my DIYed curtains! Obsessed.

I even added my One Little Word, Choose, into a pocket.DSC_0531

I had a full sheet and some smaller pieces of that awesome star overlay left from my December Daily and just had to use it too.DSC_0536

And now for the back side and the enlarged 12×12 photo.

I kept it simple and used only the black and white cross paper. It looks a little funky because of the see-through pockets, but it works for me.DSC_0541

And I’m lurrrrving my giant ampersand! I love that it’s black and white and huge! I also love that if I want to add anything to it at some point I can. But, for the moment, I think it’s super awesome!DSC_0543DSC_0544DSC_0546

Then once you turn the page, it will be the first week of January’s spread.

I’m so excited to be starting another album with this new year. And this finished intro makes me even more excited.

Have a great weekend!

Project Life 2014-Getting Started

I’ve only just started working on my Project Life cover page for 2014. I’m awaiting a 12×12 print to arrived from Persnickety Prints before I can finish it. Then I have to start printing out the photos for January. I am so behind! Oh, and I’m still wrapping up 2013.

I wasn’t sure how I wanted to go about Project Life this year. I love my albums so much. They are a lot fun to look through and be reminded of all the little moments from our past. But sometimes it can be hard to keep up with weekly. Especially when you run out of ink in your printer and its way too cold out to even leave the house to get more. That being said, I still plan to do the weekly documentation this year. My first album was monthly and then my second and third were weekly and I prefer the weekly albums. I’m not sure why, but I like them better.

As far as the kit goes, I still have a lot of cards left in my Seafoam kit from last year, so I wasn’t sure if I would purchase another one. Plus, I have a digital version of the Midnight Edition and none of the other kits really got me excited. I like elements of a bunch of them, but not enough to buy them.

That was true until last week, when Becky Higgins announced that Jo-Ann Stores would be carrying an exclusive kit called the Kiwi Edition. It’s a bit bright, but I’m really liking most of the card designs and think that they’ll work well with my photos because a lot of them are of the kiddos and they often have bright clothing on or are surrounded by brightly colored toys. I also think I will be able to mix in the Seafoam edition and the Midnight edition.

Here’s a little peek:

I just got a 40 % coupon for Jo-Ann in my email this morning, so I’ll be picking up my kit this weekend. I’m excited to get this year started even if I’m a little late to the party.

DIY Quote Print

As I’ve mentioned before, we created a gallery wall around our tv and entertainment center. I’ve already added some photographs of our family, but I also want to incorporate some prints as well. We have a bit of a black and white theme going on in our living room with some pops of color, so I wanted to add a black and white quote print to the gallery.

I went to my quote board on Pinterest and picked one that I liked and made my own print. I love this quote. It’s exactly how I feel about both my house and my family.

I’m really happy with how it turned out. I wanted something really simple. I used the Bebas font and black ink on white cardstock. That’s it! I actually see prints for sale like this all the time. This one was free! High five. Or not cause that’s dorky. Fist bump?

It’s hanging in the bottom left corner of the gallery. Directly above it is a photo I took when my husband and I was first dating. We were camping and sitting around the fire bored, so I started making our initials out of pebbles in the dirt. I thought it was cute, so I took a photo. It’s been framed and hung on the wall since we moved in together.

I think I’ll add some of the kids paintings in a couple of the frames or maybe even some of my own paintings from high school. Anyway, I still have a way to go before all the frames are filled, but when it’s complete, I’ll be sure to post about it.

I hope you’re having a great week!

Ten Projects-Project #3

IMG_9874

I really wanted to add more see-through elements to my December Daily this year and knew I wanted to incorporate some shiny sequins.

So, for project #3 I decided to make my own sequins pockets to insert into my pocket pages throughout my album. They were simple and very inexpensive to make.

Oh my do I love how they turned out! I’m super pumped to use them!

I picked up three packages of sequins at JoAnn yesterday along with a package of clear sentiment stickers that were 40% off. I used some overlays that I already had and a chipboard letter D from a set from Target. I cut up an old 9 pocket page that was damaged in one spot and used those pockets. Hudson helped me add the sequins and then I sewed the tops closed.

IMG_9851

I ended up using this one and updating the first page of my December Daily. It originally just had the D slipped into the pocket, but I added the gold sequins and four silver stars to represent the four members of our family. Then to keep the D in place, I stitched it across the center. Much better!IMG_9852

Here is how it looks now.IMG_9875IMG_9871

IMG_9853

I’m planning to use this one as part of our holiday party spread. Love, love, love it! I think this one is my favorite.IMG_9855IMG_9857IMG_9863IMG_9869IMG_9873

IMG_9874

I decided to start with five pocket inserts, but have a feeling that I’ll like the look so much once they’re in my album that I’ll end up making more.

This was a fun little project.

Now on to the next! I’m hoping to make a holiday wreath this weekend and finish up a project that was started last December.

Have a great weekend!

**If you have any questions about the supplies I used, please leave them in the comments and I’ll be sure to answer them.**
